Thomas Taylor Obituary

Thomas Nelson “Putz” Taylor, 74, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Salisbury “W.G. Hefner “VA Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Thomas was born December 15, 1947 in Jefferson County, NY a son of the late Ernest and Frances Hagerty Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, McKenna and a son who died in infancy and a brother, Ernest Taylor and also a first wife, Lydia Draper Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Hotis Taylor whom he married October 23, 1970, three sons; Thomas (Donna) Taylor of Loraine, NY, Christopher (Ashley) Taylor of Kannapolis, Chancy (Tonya) Taylor of Concord. He also has two daughters; Bobbi Taylor of Belleville, NY, Wendy Taylor of Concord, twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild, brother, John Taylor of Apopka, Fla., five sisters; Sharon of Kentucky, Betty of Orlando, Mary of Ocala, Fla., Pat of Indiana and Laurie of Illinois.

Thomas worked at NYAB, Town of Orleans, Caskinette Ford, He was a former fire chief of the Fishers Landing Fire Department. He also worked for Frinks Snow Plow. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed radio-controlled car racing, stock car racing and was a track champion in 1989.

The family will be holding private services for Thomas later in the summer.
