Thelma Aileen McCraven

Thelma "Aileen" Mullis McCraven, 93, of Landis passed away January 5, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, after a period of declining health.

She was born on May 14, 1928 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late J. C. and Mary Taylor Mullis. In addition to her parents, Aileen is preceded in death by her husband Edward Lee McCraven in 1996, 2 sons, Earl Michael McCraven and William David Smith and grandson, Chris McCraven.

Aileen was a lifelong area resident and member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. In early years, Aileen worked for Cannon Mills in the washcloth dept. as an overedger. She loved sewing and cooking.

A celebration of her life will be held  at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jean Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends at Whitley's from 1:00  to 2:00 PM before the service. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

McCraven of China Grove and his family, Grandchildren,  David McCraven, Shirley Baker, Michael McCraven, Shirley Baker (Jeff), David McCraven (Tausha) and Michael McCraven (Sarah); great grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley and Brittany Baker, Daniel McCraven (Lexus), Dillon McCraven (Amanda), Donielle Smith (Kyle), Matthew McCraven (Katie), Blake McCraven and Mary Elizabeth McCraven; 5 great grandchildren,  son, Gary Wayne McCraven (Charity) of Kannapolis and his family Grandchildren, Tanisha Corl (Dustin), Jessica Jung (Jon), great grandchildren, Kirsten and Kinsley Jung, Anthony Grimes, Amy and Abby McCraven,  son, Walter Lee McCraven (Debbie) of Oakboro and his family, Grandchildren, Brandon McCraven, Tammy Smith, Shawn Smith, great grandchildren, Corney Morton, Cobie Smith, Carson Smith, Collin Smith, Cassidy Smith,
