Ruth Bernice (Helms) Milam

Ruth Bernice Helms Milam, 87, of Mooresville, entered into eternal rest, Sunday November 27, 2022 after a period of declining health. Born November 15, 1935 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Helms. Her beloved husband Tildon preceded her in death in 2018.

Ruth spent her working years at AMP as a machinist. She always enjoyed fishing. Ruth had a deep love and affection for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Roy Herman Sykes and wife Tonya, Charlie Lee Sykes and wife Betty; step-sons, Mike Milam and wife Nina, Eric Milam and companion Tesha, Ronnie Milam and wife Sue; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a special friend, Shirley.

Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond Larry Sykes and Carl Franklin Sykes; and a step-son, Gary Milam.

Funeral services to honor Ruth’s life will be held at 1:30PM Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel, Kannapolis. Pastor Leon Simmons will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
