Ronnie Eugene Long, 70, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at his residence after a short period of declining health.
Ronnie was born on April 15, 1953 in Rowan County. He was a cherished son of the late Clyde Long and Mary Virginia Crisco Hutchison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Daniel Long and Brandon Long; and his two sisters, Patricia Tucker and Judy Wacaster.
A man of diverse passions, Ronnie found his greatest joy amidst the company of animals, particularly his beloved German Shepherds. Their companionship was a source of immeasurable happiness and unwavering loyalty that brought a profound sense of fulfillment to his life.
Fond of the great outdoors, he reveled in the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing, finding solace and connection with nature. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden each season.
Ronnie radiated a contagious joy during holidays, cherishing Christmas and the Fourth of July above all. He was the embodiment of the festive spirit, embracing the joy of giving and the thrill of lighting up the night sky with fireworks, a tradition that filled his heart with joy.
However, more than his hobbies, Ronnie will be remembered for his unparalleled generosity. He found immense pleasure in giving gifts, a reflection of his deep care and love for those in his life. His thoughtfulness and selflessness touched the hearts of many, leaving lasting imprints of love and kindness.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Dara Long; his son, Jonathan Long; grandson, Xane Long; brother, Melvin Long (Sandy); sister, Kathy Curran (Brian).
A graveside memorial service will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in China Grove, NC on Saturday, November 4 at 12:00PM. Visitation will start at 11:00AM for friends and family to send their condolences. Flowers for the Long family may be sent directly to the cemetery.
