Ronia West Raper

Ronia West Raper, 85, of Kannapolis passed away on July 24, 2020. He was born September 20, 1934 in Murphy, NC, a son of the late Marshall and Adenia Raper. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Athea Raper Patterson; Loyd Raper; Howard Raper; Hazel Raper Smith; Claudia Raper Dudley; Charlene Raper Scott; Frank Raper; Floyd (Buck) Raper.  Half brothers and sisters; Marty Raper, Effie Raper Mull, Eva Raper Reynolds, Bonnie Raper Nobles, Taft Raper, Alvin L Raper, A. Clarence Raper, Clinton Raper, Rose Raper Barnhardt and  a baby girl died at birth, Ethel.

Ronia retired from Cannon Mills, after 43 years in the weave room. He enjoyed working on cars, especially rebuilding a 1965 Mustang for his youngest grandson, Lincoln. He spent his time supporting his grandchildren at ballgames, school programs, award ceremonies and church programs. He spent many summer vacations in Pigeon Forges riding go-karts with his grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 27, 2020 at Memorial Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jason Barber. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends afterward at the cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Raper, sons, Ronnie Raper, Norris Raper (Sandy), grandchildren, Jennifer, Jackson, Marshall and Lincoln and brother, Horace (Chuck) Raper.
