Ronald Eugene Barbee

Ronald Eugene Barbee, 70 years old, of Concord, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 17, 2023.  Ronald was born on March 11, 1952, in Cabarrus County to the late Melvin and Mae Deese Cagle. 

Ronald was a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School in 1970 where he played football.  Earlier in his career, Ronald worked for Cannon Mills.  After leaving the mill, he went on to be a Police Office for the City of Concord, where he served his community for 22 years.  Ronald was a past volunteer firefighter with Jackson Park Volunteer Fire Department in Concord.  He served in the North Carolina National Guard for 12 years.  Ronald was a member and deacon of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.  He was president of the Men’s Brotherhood of the church.  Ronald also enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Shelia Murray Barbee; his son, Dale Barbee and his wife Cindy; his daughters, Tonya Medlin and her husband Jamie and Kayla Miller and her husband Dale; his grandchildren, Jamie Medlin, Jake Barbee and Cole Barbee, and his great grandson, Austin Miller.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 1-2pm at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, 555 Neisler Road, Concord, with a funeral service celebrating Ronald’s life at 2pm with the Rev. Roger Bostic officiating. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
