Richard Elwood Morrison

Richard Elwood Morrison, 84, of Concord passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus following a period of declining health.

Richard was born June 2, 1936 in Guilford County, NC a son of the late John Wakelon Morrison and Ruby Irene Hill Morrison.

Richard was a very strong man who was selfless; so his family could have the comforts of home. He had a very strong relationship with Jesus and never compromised his moral beliefs. He was a man of integrity. He raised three generations of family to whom he was very dedicated.

He was a retired mechanical engineer who designed packaging machinery for many companies.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Lydia Amelie Jacobee Morrison, one son, Chris Morrison and wife Dawn of Kannapolis, and their two sons Heath and Jared, one daughter, Karen Tarlton of Concord and her children Jade Tarlton, Connor Tarlton, Thorne Tarlton, Noah Morrison. Seven great- grandchildren also survive with one on the way.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:30P.M.-7:00 P.M.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Avenue, Salisbury, NC 28144 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western NC Chapter,  4600 Park Rd STE 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
