Rachel Elmina (McCorkle) Overcash

Rachel Elmina McCorkle Overcash, 91, of Concord, went into her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Rachel was born on January 31, 1930 to the late Merrill Lee McCorkle and Joanna Clementine McCombs McCorkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. McCorkle and Merrill McCorkle and a sister, Alice Baucom.

Rachel worked for McDonnell Douglas for several years before becoming a banking assistant for Concord Kannapolis Savings and Loan. She was a life-long member of Gilwood Presbyterian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and was an avid reader. She also loved to play Canasta with her friends and was part of a Canasta Club.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 70 years, Bennett Frank Overcash; sons, Bennett Keith (Jane) Overcash and Marshall Dale (Robin) Overcash, both of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kevin (Elizabeth) Overcash, Brad Overcash, Ashley (Tanner) Hardee, and Brooke (Trevor) Carter; great-grandchildren, Norah Overcash, Meredith Overcash, Bennett Hardee and Bryson Hardee.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Gilwood Presbyterian Church in Concord. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. at Gilwood Presbyterian Church with Rev. Alan Buckner and Rev. Charles Blasdell officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
