Peggy "Sue" (Brown) Absher

Peggy “Sue” Brown Absher, 74, of Wilkesboro, formerly of Kannapolis, died September 13, 2022 at Accordius Health at Wilkesboro after a period of declining health.

Her funeral will be held at 12:00 PM Friday. September 16, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 11:00 to 12:00 PM Friday prior to the funeral service.

Sue was born October 6, 1947 in Wilkes Co. NC a daughter of the late Novella Brown. In addition to her mother Sue was preceded in death by her husband Travis Lee Absher, Sr., her son Travis Lee Absher, Jr., her daughter Tara Lynn Absher and 14 Brothers and sisters.

Sue was of the Baptist faith and in earlier years worked for various local mills; later she was mostly a caregiver and homemaker for her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed.

Sue was survived by her daughter, Susan “Nicky” Jenkins of Statesville, “special” son, Luke Absher, her granddaughter, Kayla Jenkins of Cornelius, “special” grandsons, Travis and Brayden Absher and great-granddaughter Essie Lattimore, her brothers Fred Wagoner of Taylorsville and James Brown of Shelby, her sisters Jeanne Shumate of N. Wilkesboro, Rebecca Blivens and Marlene Testerman, both of Wilkesboro, Shirley Osborne of Gallatin TN, Sandra Stewart of Grover, NC as well as many nieces and nephews.
