Paul "Raymond" (Lefty) Rogers, 93, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully November 2, 2021 at his daughter's home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 25, 1928 in Salisbury, NC; Raymond was a son of Homer Banks and Mary Scercy Rogers. He was one of 13 children.
A life-long area resident, Raymond was a proud veteran of the US Army; serving during the Korean War and receiving a Purple Heart Medal. He was a hardworking, kindhearted Christian man; a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Fisher Rogers, his grandson, Daniel Long, his great-granddaughter, Hailey Jackson, five brothers and six sisters.
Paul is survived by his daughter Sylvia Long (Charles), his grandson, Brandon Long (Megan) both of Kannapolis, his step-granddaughter, Amy Jackson (Cliff) of Rockwell, his great-grandchildren, Mason, McKinnley and Maverick Long and Braxton Deland, his step great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hope Jackson, his brothers; William Kenneth Rogers (Betty) and Carl Rogers (Corine), both of Kannapolis as well as numerous nieces, nephews and Cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, November 8, at 2:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Earnhardt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 - 2:00 PM before the service. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park
