Patricia Ann (Smith) Christy

Patricia Ann Smith Christy, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 surrounded by loving family.

Patricia was born on May 10, 1943 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Henry Grady Smith and Sarah Rosalee Collins Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Smith. 

Patricia formerly worked in the Sewing Room of Cannon Mills before becoming a CNA at Atrium Health Cabarrus for over 30 years. She loved taking trips to the beach and mountains, as well as enjoyed going fishing. She was a faithful member of The Message Community Church. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 38 years; Richard Christy; children, Kimberly (Steve) Payne, David (Michelle) Smith, and Connie (Robert) Morris; step-children, Scott (Tammy) Christy, Tonya (Leslie) Hare, and Kelley Wright; twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Barnhill and Rev. Ed Burns officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
