Nora Belle (Patterson) Short

 Mrs. Nora Belle Patterson Short, 92, of Concord, died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus, after a period of declining health.

Her funeral service will be held at Memorial Baptist Church in Kannapolis at 2:00 PM, Wednesday , November 17 with Rev. Jason Barber and Robert Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the funeral, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday.

Nora was born July 18, 1929 in Franklin Co. NC, a daughter of the late Douglas E. and Mary Belle Patterson Patterson. In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Short, Jr., 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Madeline Self, her grandson-in-law, Johnny Munson; her sisters, Nellie P. Aycock (Fuller), Sarah Patterson, Peggy P. Lassiter (Alvin), Shirley P. Hanford; her brothers, Billy, Glenn Sr. (Louise), Perry (Fran), Linwood, Wayne and Jerry Patterson; brothers-in-law, Henry Berger and Ollie Short (Peggy), sisters-in-law, Virginia Patterson (Harvie), and Helen Walker (Dewey).

Nora was an active and faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church and one of the eldest members. She taught the 2 and 3 year old’s in Sunday School, the Sunbeams and Children’s Church for many years. In earlier years, Nora worked for several hosiery mills in Vance and Cabarrus Counties and sold Stanley home products, but was primarily a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed listening to Christian radio programs, and singing to every child that she rocked. She was an excellent cook, sweets and biscuits being her specialty. Nora was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed.

Nora is survived by her sons, Michael Short and Dean Short, both of Concord; her daughters, Judy Moose of Concord and Angela Self (Darrel) of Kannapolis; 7 granddaughters, Amy Munson, Lisa Kelly (Jon), Connie Lavance (Troy), Christie Alexander (Chris), Deana Overcash (Justin), Kristen Munzert (John), Brooke Irvin (Philip) ; 7 grandsons, Jamie Sossamon, Mike Short (Bridgett), Kendal, Caleb and Jaxon Self, David and Daniel Short, 16 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Carolyn Patterson Berger, her brother, Brooks Patterson, sisters-in-law Elaine Patterson, Pamela Patterson, Ethel Patterson Dickerson, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
