Mildred “Millie” Louise Barlow Keller, 86, of Charlotte passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at her home. She was born July 8, 1935 in Kannapolis, NC, daughter of the late Fred and Eura Walker Barlow.
Millie is survived by her husband, Bob Keller. Bob & Millie were high school sweethearts, who dated 6 years before marrying in 1958. They were blessed with 70 years together. Millie is also survived by daughters, Robin Keller Bowlin of Indian Trail, and Christi Keller Barker (T.P.) of Charlotte; son, Lance Keller (Megan) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Madison Caroline Bowlin, Wesley Robert Bowlin and sister, Wanda “Peggy” Henderson of Knoxville, TN. She is survived by a sister-n-law, Janice Keller Russell, of Woodstock, GA, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Millie worked as an administrative assistant to the program director at WBTV in Charlotte, a bank teller at the Cabarrus Bank in Kannapolis and as a registrar at CPCC in Charlotte. She was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
Throughout her years, she enjoyed antiquing with her family and her best friend, Mary Charles Kendrick. Millie loved playing church hymns on her piano, with “How Great Thou Art” and “Blessed Assurance” being her favorites. She enjoyed Southern Gospel concerts, toll painting with her group & shopping with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time at the beach with her family and friends on the SC Coast.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by family friend and Pastor Ray Hardee. The family will receive friends at 12pm before the service. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
