Michael Wayne Melton

Michael Wayne Melton, 59, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away Saturday evening, November 5, 2022, at his home, surrounded by love.

Born July 13, 1963, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late James Perry and Diane Lefler Melton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Melton.

Mr. Melton had been a long time, devoted employee of Food Lion, where he was an experienced and talented meat cutter, most recently working for Sav-a-lot. He loved being with his family and friends, and enjoyed hunting, golf, grilling out and taxidermy. A devoted and loving father, brother and friend of many, Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left with cherished memories include his much-loved fiancée, Cathy M. Zack; his daughter, Kayla Melton; step daughters, Heather Zack and Alicia Honeycutt (Brett), brothers, Terry Melton (Tanya) and Scott Melton; step granddaughter, Adaline Honeycutt; nephews, Danny Melton and Troy Phillips, and many friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, November 9, 2022, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A memorial service to remember Michael’s life will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, November 10th, at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel.
