Mary Lou “Butch” Dwiggins Bost, 92, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Born October 18, 1931, in Davie County, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late William W. and Edna Tutterow Dwiggins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Melton Bost in 2021 and her brother Don Dwiggins.
Butch graduated from J.W. Cannon High School in 1950. She was involved in cheerleading and basketball. Butch was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis. She worked 27 years in the Kannapolis City Schools as a teacher’s assistant. Butch was a long-time member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church. She was very active in choir, Sunday school and in the Women’s Group (UMW) and Autumn Friends. Butch was also a youth group counselor. She was an avid Duke and Braves fan. She very much-loved spending time with her granddogs. Butch loved her Lord, her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family members left with many cherished memories include her children, Melton C. Bost (Debbie) and Lu Lyn Bost Jones (Jim); grandson, Matthew Bost (Kaitlyn); her brother Herb Dwiggins; cousins, Dean, Jonathan and Taylor Ramsouer, and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 1:00-2:30 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember and give thanks for the life of Mrs. Bost will begin at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
