Lucrece (Valentin) Laguerre

Lucrece Valentin Laguerre, 102, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at her home on December 25, 2021, Christmas morning, with her family by her side. She was born May 19, 1919 in Jacmel, Haiti, the only child and daughter of the late Aline Valentin and Jubert Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andre Laguerre, four sons, Hudson, Joseph, George, Fan Fan, daughter, Monette Rooks, and her three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Roger and Milca.

Lucrece was a Godly woman that lived a full Christian life. She could often be found watching a Catholic vigil with rosary beads in hand, reciting a hymn or prayer.  She is what we called a true prayer warrior. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a mother figure to many other family members and friends throughout her lifetime.

Those left to cherish her memory and live out her legacy include her children, Michele, Marie-Therese, Edeline, Yolande; her grandchildren Clark, Regine, Tania, Pierre, Marjorie, Kathleen, Frantzy, Cynthia, Andre, Melissa, Lucrece, Andre, Carmelle, Keisha, Ebony, Danielle, Christopher, and her 37 great-grandchildren.
 

A private mass to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Church in Kannapolis. Committal and burial will be held at Carolina Memorial Park following the services. 

The family requests that all who attendees wear a mask and socially distance themselves.
