Linda "Kay" Earnhardt Mullis, 77, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 1, 2022 at her residence.
Kay was born on December 10, 1944 in Cabarrus County. She was a cherished daughter of the late Morrison Van Burren (Bub) Earnhardt and Ruby Beatrice Blackwelder Earnhardt.
Kay was a long-time member at Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach and writing poems. Kay wrote many beautiful poems throughout her life. Flowers brought a lot of joy to her heart. She loved tending to her garden and plants and especially loved when the Buttercups would bloom. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Kay spent her career as a teacher and later changing careers to work as a tax collector and billing clerk in China Grove. She was a kind and gentle lady and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 37 years, Ronald Mullis, son; Jeffery Bennick, step-children; Catherine Bruce, and Christopher Mullis; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Earnhardt and JoAnn Craig; sister in- law, Diane Treece; along with two nieces and one nephew.
A service to honor Kay's life will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis with Rev. Ken Reed officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
