Lela Mae (Gantt) Smith

Lela Mae Gantt Smith, 98, of China Grove passed away on November 16, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Mae was born May 14, 1923 in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Campbell. She was preceded in death by, Henderson Lee Gantt and Leroy Alexander Smith, her son, Henderson LaDon Gantt and son-in-law, Johnny Davis of Jacksonville, FL.

Mae retired from Cannon Mills in 1982. She was a member of Kannapolis Church of God where she was an active volunteer at her church for many years.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 at Kannapolis Church of God officiated by Dr. Greg Sloop. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends prior from 11:00 to 12:00 at church.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Davis of Jacksonville, step sons, Leroy Smith (Dora) of Kannapolis, Robert Smith of Kannapolis, step daughter, Margie Robinson (Max) of Kannapolis, two granddaughters, Holly Katherine Fisher of Washington, D.C. and Laura Elizabeth Profitt (Ryan) of Jacksonville Beach, Fl. , and  four great grandchildren, Kendall Ryla, Brynley Lauryn, Mila Ryanne and Fisher Reid Proffitt of Jacksonville, FL.
