Kay "Denise" (Milam) Griffiths

Kay “Denise” Milam Griffiths, 63, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Denise was born on August 18, 1960 in Cabarrus County. She was the treasured daughter of the late Cecil Doyle Milam and Letha Melton Milam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a baby girl.

Denise was a devoted educator who touched the lives of many children through nearly 30 years as a preschool teacher. She was very proud to have helped start the Westford Preschool in Concord. Denise loved kids and dedicated her life to nurturing their minds and hearts.

Beyond her work, Denise found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She adored family trips to the beach and singing along to her favorite country music. Denise was a Disney enthusiast, she found delight in sharing the wonder of Disney with her loved ones. Crafting was another one of Denise’s passions that she used to express her creativity and to share special moments with her children.

Above all else, Denise cherished her role as a grandparent. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, bringing endless laughter and love into her life.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 44 years, Craig Griffiths; children, Kimberly Griffiths (Zach), Allan Griffiths (Ashley), and Tracy Griffiths; grandchildren Hayden, Grayson, and LJ; brothers, Randy and Ronald Milam; as well as, many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM on Friday April 12, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Westford Methodist Church in Concord. Interment will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests Memorials to be made to the Westford Preschool at 273 State Hwy 49, Concord, NC 28025; or to Hospitality House of Charlotte at 1400 Scott Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203.
