We sadly announce the passing of Judith Crippen Armstrong, age 81, of Concord on November 20, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus after two years of declining health. Judy's children, their spouses and her husband Rod were by her bedside at the end. She will be forever loved and remembered.

Judy was born September 13, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Roy E. Crippen and Audrie Burns Crippen. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roy E. Crippen, Jr.

Judy graduated in 1958 from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. She was also a 1960 graduate of Saint Mary's College in Raleigh and a 1962 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. After college, Judy was married and subsequently raised her three children. When in her forty's she earned her RN Degree as a Registered Nurse. She then worked for 12 years in the Mother Baby Unit at Northeast Medical Center until her retirement in 2003.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who took great interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren, always asking to be informed of every detail of her grandchildren's lives and attended as many of their sports and school activities as possible. She loved her family and friends immensely. Judy led by example through her kind and gentle nature and her children have always aspired to be just like her.

A lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, Judy was a devoted servant and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King, the Altar Guild, and the Healing Shawl Ministry. Most recently, she and Rod were members of the Resurrection Anglican Church.

Judy enjoyed reading, knitting, and volunteering in community outreach programs. She was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels and also a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 115, Kannapolis. Other memberships included the Esoteric Book Club of Concord and the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis Historical Societies.

Judy and her husband Rod enjoyed many foreign trips as well as round trip trans-Atlantic cruises to England on Board the Queen Mary II out of New York City. Their destinations included many countries of Europe. In addition to England, they visited Ireland, Scotland, France, Norway, Germany, Prague, the Czech Republic, and Quebec City, Canada. She especially enjoyed her trip to Paris and the French Riviera, which included Nice, Monaco, and Rome, Italy. Rod and Judy certainly enjoyed many wonderful adventures abroad, always together and always so happy.
