Jimmy Neal Leonard, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday morning, November 2, 2021, at his home, following a period of declining health.
Born December 30, 1942, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Emma Sexton Cheek. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his wife, Terry Faye Tennent Leonard on July 5, 2018; a grandson, Darien Bean; his brother, Ricky Cheek; and sister, Beverly Brantley.
Family members left with cherished memories include his children, Jeffrey Leonard of Kannapolis and Cynthia Bean and husband, Henry, of Ladson, SC; his grandchildren, Heather, Jonathan and Rebekah Leonard and Kai Bean; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mr. Leonard had earlier devotedly worked for 25 years for Cannon Mills, later working 20 years for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf. Although in a much better place today, he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 am Friday, November 5th at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Graveside services to remember and celebrate Jimmy’s life will begin at 11:00 am Friday, at Carolina Memorial Park, where Mr. Leonard will be laid to rest with his beloved wife.
