Jerry Philip "Phil" Ritchie Jr.

Jerry Philip “Phil” Ritchie Jr., 61, of Davidson, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 after a period of declining health.

Phil was born on February 18, 1962 in Cabarrus County to his father, the late Jerry Philip Ritchie Sr., and mother, Betty Lou Freeze Ritchie, who survives.

Phil contributed to the community in his early adult life by working for Cannon Mills Textile Company. He gave back to the community and was part of the  growth and development of downtown Kannapolis before starting his own very successful land development company Philland Inc. Phil was an avid fan of NASCAR. He loved doing activities outdoors, including landscaping, going fishing, and he especially loved playing golf. Most of all, he cherished spending time with this family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his Mother, Betty Ritchie; Sister, Crystal Willis; brother, Mark Ritchie; nephews, Christopher Willis, Cameron Willis, Colton Willis; nieces, Amber Ritchie and Heather Wall, and numerous close friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Demps Overcash officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
