James "Jimmy, Jim" Franklin Green

James “Jimmy, Jim” Franklin Green, 93, of Harrisburg went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health.

Jimmy was born October 22, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late David Franklin Green and Nannie Bell Tucker Green. Also preceding him in death were two brothers; Wilburn Greene and Billy Green and three sisters; Ruth Sides, Helen Humberger and Shirley Dee.

Jimmy was a Charter Member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher, and was a very active member of the church as long as his health permitted.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War Era.

Jim was a short haul truck driver for Hormel Foods for many years. He enjoyed fishing at the Outer Banks, gardening and having his own vineyard and wine making.

Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held 12:00 Noon, Monday, March 20, 2023 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church in Harrisburg conducted by Rev. Fredrick Bowman and Rev. Richard Smith.

The family will receive friends at the church 11:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the service.

Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis with military graveside rites conducted by the US Army and the Cabarrus County Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Beloved family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 69 years, Jo Aycoth Green of the home. Four daughters; Cynthia West (Edward) of Concord, Carolyn Lomax (Darrell) of Concord, Kay Craven (Larry) of Concord and Nita Swearingen (Paul) of Harrisburg. He is also survived by one sister, Frances Kirby of Concord, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
