James Wade Beaver

James Wade Beaver, age 82 of China Grove went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday April 22, 2023, after a period of declining health, surrounded by family.    

James was born May 20, 1940, in Rowan County, NC and was the son of the late Walter Alexander Beaver and Delvada Miller Beaver.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Jeanie Carpenter Beaver on October 10, 2022, brothers, Robert, Wayne, Terry and Donnie Beaver and half-sisters, Gail, and Eloise. 

James was a member of South China Grove Baptist where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, RA leader and was active in the men’s group for many years. James retired from Duke Power and Warrior Golf Club.  He loved golf, fishing and watching NASCAR. He also loved going to the beach.    

James served his country honorably in the US Navy, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. 

Family members left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Teresa Beaver of China Grove, his grandson Adam Earnhardt and Anna of Kannapolis, and great granddaughter Lana Earnhardt of Kannapolis. He was also survived by his beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Timmie) Beaver of Concord, Bill (Diane) Beaver of Mooresville, sisters, Helen (Sammy) Oxendine of Cramerton, Ellen (David) Rufty of Concord and Diane (Jim) Harwood of Rockwell.   

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 12:00 PM at South China Grove Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Curtis Parker. The family will receive friends from 11AM to 12 Noon at the church. Military Honors will be conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Navy. 

The family requests that memorial donations be made to South China Grove Baptist Church, PO Box 163, China Grove, NC 28023.
