James Burris Sr. Obituary

James Brady Burris Sr., 94, of Concord, passed away on April 14, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

James was born on February 9, 1927 in Cabarrus County to the late Adam Burris and Ethel Blackwelder Burris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Louise Burris; second wife, Sylvia Ann Jackson Burris; third wife, Geneva Ann Minton Burris; brother, Fred Burris; and sisters, Mildred Gray and Edna Burris.

James worked in the Weave Room of Cannon Mills. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He loved to go fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed taking trips to the mountains and to the beach.  He dearly loved his family, but he also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Bubba, Jim Bob, and Whitey.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Brenda Kelly and Shirley (Charles) Mesimore; son, J.B. Burris Jr.; three grandchildren, Marty Seamon, Rodney Seamon, and Bruce Seamon; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and one on the way.

The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 in the chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Galloway officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
