Jack Bost Obituary

Jack Melton Bost, 93, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021.

Born December 19, 1927, in Cabarrus County, Jack was the son of the late Lee Roy and Beulah Mae Haney Bost.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Strube.

Mr. Bost had retired after nearly 30 years of loyal service from the US Postal Service, where he was a well-known mail carrier.  Earlier in life, he had honorably served his country during the Korean War, with the US Army. Jack was a longtime, devoted member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men’s, had served as youth group leader, church treasurer and Boy Scout master. He had been a volunteer poll worker, was an avid Duke fan and enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. Mr.Bost loved his Lord, his family, his grand dogs, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family members left with many cherished memories include his wife of nearly 66 years, Mary Lou “Butch” Dwiggins Bost; his children, Melton C. Bost (Debbie) and Lu Lyn Bost Jones (Jim); grandson, Matthew Bost (Kaitlyn), nephews, Richard and David Strube; his niece Sherry Baker; cousins, Dean, Jonathan and Taylor Ramsouer, and extended family members. 

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 15th from 1:30-3:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Services to remember and give thanks for the life of Mr. Bost will begin at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Caitlin Lai and Rev. Kirk Tutterow.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
