Helen (Meeks) Rowell

Helen Elizabeth Meeks Rowell, 91, of Kannapolis, went into her heavenly home on Sunday, June 13, 2021

Helen was born on October 27, 1929 in Anson County, NC to the late James Walter Meeks and Effie Gaddy Meeks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Ray Dillon Rowell; son, Douglas Rowell; daughter in law, Brenda Rowell; two brothers, James T. Meeks and Charlie Meeks, and three sisters, Virginia Lovette, Louise Biggerstaff, and Bernice Hunsucker.

Helen retired from Pillowtex in 1992 from Plant 16 as a weaver. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 2003. She loved cooking and loved family gatherings. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved pet Chihuahuas.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Michael Rowell and Stephen Rowell; daughter, Debbi (Jerry) Bynum; four grandchildren, Delaina (Phil) Currie, Melissa (Sam) Houston, and Sandy (Junnie) Edwards, and Mandy (Tim) Nester; five great-grandchildren, Macy Currie, Coltan Currie, Bailee Nester, Lauren Dunlap, and Joshua Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. R.J. Hammond officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
