Grayson Odell Stamey, Jr., 86, of Mooresville, formerly of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Odell was born September 9, 1935 in Moore County, NC a son of the late Grayson Odell Stamey, Sr. and the late Tiny Needham Stamey. He wife, Edith LaVerne Vinson Stamey preceded him in death January 20, 2021. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Stamey and Melvin Stamey.
He was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Yorktown during the Korean War.
Odell was founder of Grayson-O-Company which manufactures person care products.
Odell was a loving husband and father.
Funeral services will be 5:30 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Bethpage United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary McDonald. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:30 P.M. until the time of the service.
Family members left to cherish his memory include a son, Van Stamey of Mooresville, a daughter, Robbi Grayson of Connecticut, grandchildren; Jared Allen Stamey, Jessica Lauren Stamey and Charles “Tripp” Ray Reed III. and two great-grandchildren.
