Glenn Preston Smith

Glenn Preston Smith, 90, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

Glenn was born on October 31, 1929 to the late Carl Smith and Gertrude High Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Gentle Smith in 2018.

Glenn enjoyed working as a mechanic all his life. His career began at Cannon Mills and he later went on to work in the construction business. He had a talent for being able to fix anything that was broken. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and gardening vegetables.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Mark (Debbie) Smith; daughter, Glenda (Silas) Grover; brother, Bernard (Delores) Smith; sister, Reba Hannah; five grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.

Glenn will lie-in-state at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Ron Hartman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625 and/or to Accordius Health of Mooresville 752 E Center Ave, Mooresville, NC 28115.
