Georgia (Hart) Whitaker

Georgia Hart Whitaker, 92, of Mint Hill, passed away Thursday morning, November 5, 2020, at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail.

Born July 20, 1928, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Miles (Lum) and Flora Helms Hart. Mrs. Whitaker was a retired seamstress.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 38 years, Troy C. Whitaker, a sister, Mary Catherine Sutton, 2 brothers, Lum Hart, Jr. and Harold Hart.

Family members include her children, Leslie Coates (Jerry), Janet Sams and Amelia Wilkinson (Scott); her grandchildren, Michelle Harbin (Ken), Jerry Coates, Jr., Jennifer Coates and  Elizabeth Winecoff; great-grandchildren, Christopher Harbin, Breanna Harbin, Kaylan Sanchez (Ivan), Tyler Winecoff (Jordan), Cassie Pope (Landon), Hunter Winecoff, Grace Winecoff, Benjamin Winecoff and Abigal Winecoff; her great-great-grandchildren, Syler Harbin, Isabela Sanchez, Waylan Winecoff, Hattie Winecoff, Aubrey Perry, Skylar Perry and Hope Pope; and extended family members.

Graveside services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Whitaker will begin at 12 noon Monday, November 9, 2020, at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, conducted by Rev. Scott Wilkinson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hospice, and Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for the love and care given to their precious mother.
