George Vernon Caudill

George Vernon Caudill, 88, passed away at his home in Concord on Friday afternoon, May 8, 2020, with family by his side.  He had been in declining health for the past several years.

Born March 20, 1932 in Ashe County, he was a son of the late Darius Jackson and Ozzie Bare Caudill.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Tonnie Caudill, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Mr. Caudill had retired from the union as a gifted sheet metal mechanic. He loved music, praising his Lord, and had sung in various quartets over the years. George loved being outdoors enjoying the sunshine and nature, and enjoyed fishing.  A loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, Mr. Caudill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  The family takes comfort in knowing where he now resides.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betty Weaver Caudill; his children, Teresa Caudill (Gene DeHart), George Caudill, Jr (Evonne), David Caudill (Debbie), Joe Caudill (Ann), Tommy and Matthew Caudill, Teresa Fisher (Tommy), Ronda Leverick (Fran), and Mark Weaver (Robin).  Mr. Caudill also leaves 3 sisters, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and extended family members, with fond memories.

The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12th from 1:00-2:00 pm.  Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Caudill will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. James Smith.  Mr. Caudill will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
