Gene Leonard Brown

Gene Leonard Brown, 78, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Atrium Health Northeast, Concord following a short illness.

Gene was born August 10, 1941 in Iredell County, NC a son of the late Jim W. Brown and Elizabeth Viola Anderson Brown.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son Gene Leonard Brown II, four brothers; Bob, Linn, James and Harold, one sister, Elizabeth Johnson, and a grandson, Joshua Holden Bost.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Green Brown of the home; two daughters, Wendy Bost of Concord and Angie Brown of Kannapolis.

He is also survived by four sisters; Nell Seaford, Mable Morgan, Rachel Ritchie and Peggy Smith all of Kannapolis and two grandsons, Isaac and Panner Bost. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Gene was a master carpenter and was owner/operator of Hi-Co Construction Company. He was known for his craftsmanship in woodworking. He loved fishing, hunting, horses and all animals.

Graveside services to celebrate his life will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Tom Christensen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date when public health concerns allow.
