G. Edmiston Obituary

G. Scott Edmiston, 90, of Matthews, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Kannapolis, NC Scott was born on November 3, 1929 to the late Samuel Scott Edmiston and Pearl May Oliphant Edmiston. Scott also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. 

On February 23, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Carol Jo Crepps Edmiston, who preceded him in death in 2011. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Geneva Edmiston McQuiddy and Ruth Edmiston Joyner.

Scott enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved participating in several musical ensembles; including Melody Makers, Union Chorale and Stallings’ UMC Choir. He was an avid chess player and artist who loved keeping himself busy with various activities.


Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Lee Ann Edmiston and Robin (Scott) Farrell; granddaughter, Chelsea Farrell; and two sisters, Hilda Edmiston Ross and Peggy Edmiston Reithel. Survivors also include sister-in-law, Joanne Crepps and nieces and nephews; Hamilton Groscup and wife, Pat, Melinda Gaskin and husband, Bill, Denise Peak, Mark Groscup and wife, Dulcy, and 7 great-nieces and nephews as well as 4 great-great nieces.

A private funeral service will be held for immediate family with Rev. Dr. Scott Ireland officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Stallings United Methodist Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
