Faye Virginia (Miller) Bedford

Faye Virginia Miller Matthews Bedford, 90, of Concord, passed away January 11, 2023 after a short period of declining health. Born September 20, 1932 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Leavie Nelms Miller.

She attended Calvary Baptist Church in her youth and was a member of Royal Oaks Baptist in Kannapolis in her adulthood.

During her working years, Faye worked at Cannon Mills, later working in the real estate business. She used to enjoy boating, water skiing, camping, and riding motorcycles. Faye loved watching Westerns and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved to travel. She will be remembered for her sweet tooth, but perhaps the thing she will be most remembered for is for her love of her family. Faye had a very special relationship with her granddaughter Stephanie Teal.

Aside from her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husbands, Dub Matthews and Don Bedford; a sister, Mildred “Mickey” Robinson; a niece Pam Sherrill; and a nephew, Scott Robinson Her memory will be forever cherished by her two children, Dan Matthews and wife Martha of Concord and Judy Teal and husband David of China Grove; five grandchildren, Trevor Matthews and wife Ashleigh, Patrick Matthews, Jason Matthews and wife Stephanie, Stephanie Teal, and Dave Teal; two step – grandchildren, Connie Parker and husband Shawn, and Tanya Teal and spouse Casey; four great grandchildren, Landon and Gage Teal, Kali Walters, and Evelina Matthews; and a niece Vickie Cooper

Funeral services to honor Faye’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Pastor David Klinedinst will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
