Obituary

Eva Maxine Hardin Haywood, 92, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2022.  She was the second of ten children born to the late Grady N. Hardin and Eula Baynard Hardin on May 1, 1930 in Forest City, Rutherford County, NC.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1980 by her beloved husband, Conard Loyd Haywood Sr.  Also two brothers, Paul Grady Hardin (Infant) and Pastor Earl Hardin and three sisters, Joyce Royal, Lennie Haywood and Diane Tickle.

Maxine was educated in Cherokee Falls, SC and Rowan County, NC.  She retired from Linn-Corriher Mills in Landis. She was a longtime faithful member of Landis Church of God now Highest Praise while her health permitted. 

Maxine was a beautiful lady, true and faithful wife and a loving mother.

Family members left with cherished memories include her children, Karen Black (Donald), Conard L. Haywood Jr. (Pam), Sharon Flowers (Patrick), Barry Haywood (Marianne) and Larry Haywood (Teresa).  Eleven grandchildren, Laura Efird, Jordan Haywood, Amanda Green, Julianne Bradford, Sara Goodale, Davis Black, Suzanne Benson, Whitney Haywood, Krista Decoster, Jacob Haywood and Erin Haywood.  Twelve great-grandchildren, Morgan, Emma, Aeriengton, Arden, Laiken, Andrew, Danielle, Carter, Anniston, Andie, Riley Sue (due August) and Sophia.  Sister, Alice Featherstone (Sonny) and brothers, Henry (Doris) Hardin, Gene (Reba) Hardin and Jerry Hardin.  Many special nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at Best of Care for their care and support.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Whitley's Funeral Home.  Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Miller officiating.  Interment will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.  II Timothy 4:7-8
