Eugene Dean Rigdon

Eugene Dean Rigdon, 96, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2022 at the Landings of Cabarrus.
Eugene was born on September 2, 1926 in Ware County, GA. He was a cherished son of the late Leonard F. Rigdon and Ruth B. Bourn Rigdon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorraine Pidgeon Rigdon and daughter, Suzanne Willis.
Eugene was a proud WWII Veteran who served in the Marines and later transferred to the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion in Concord and Columbia, NC. Eugene enjoyed attending church at Second Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. He was a hunter and an avid traveler who loved to take his wife, Lorraine, across the country in their RV. Eugene loved being outdoors and would often take long trips on his motorcycle. He enjoyed watching many sports such as the Angels and Braves in Baseball, boxing, and he always cheered on the Georgia Bulldogs. He could be often found enjoying some boiled peanuts or a slice of coconut cake. Eugene was a kind and caring man who loved his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Pearl Howdyshell (William) and Ralph Davis (Estrella); son-in-law, Carl Linwood Willis; grandchildren, Suzanne Aboulezz (Mohammed), Michael Bradshaw (Liza), Gene Willis (Paula), David Davis (Marcella), Diane Ford (Curtis) and Dwayne Wills; great- grandchildren, Devin (Emi), Dylan and Logan Sawyer, Lauren and Lane Bradshaw, Peyton, Keira, and Makena Ford, Cheyene, and Mateo Davis; and brother, Barry Rigdon (Carol).
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Service will begin at 2:00pm with Rev. Dennis Morgan Officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
