Elise Margaret Holden Gainey, 77, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She had been in declining health.
Elise was born February 8, 1944 in Horry County, SC a daughter of the late George Jefferson Holden Sr. and Ethel Mae Tart Holden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Calvin Gainey in 1984, two brothers, George Jefferson Holden, Jr. and Leonard Holden, a sister, Patricia Holden Benning and a grandson, Patrick John Gainey.
She was of the Baptist Faith. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a sewer at Terry Products. She enjoyed trips to the beach, gardening and loved raising roses. She was very devoted to her grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Willie Rash. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest.
The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence.
Cherished family members include her son, Tony John Gainey and wife Debora of Kannapolis, a sister, Judy Mauldin and husband David of Charlotte, a brother, William Leroy Holden of Charlotte, two grandchildren; Christina Marie Hodges and husband Michael of Troutman, and Jonathan Ray Gainey of Kannapolis. She is also survived by four great grandchildren; Aeryn, Sage, Madelyn and Connor.
