Dr. Randy Darrell Steele, Sr.

Dr. Randy Darrell Steele, Sr. 75, of Rock Hill, S.C. formerly of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 in Rock Hill.

He was born April 3, 1948 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Jacob Parks Steele and Janie Pritchard Steele He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wayne Leonard Hayes.

Dr. Steele was a 1966 graduate of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, a 1970 graduate of Catawba College, and received his Master’s degree in education from UNC-Charlotte in 1975. He was awarded his Doctorate of Education from Nova Southeastern University. He was a wrestling coach at Northwest Cabarrus High School. He retired in 2013 as Principal serving in Washington County, NC.

He was a black belt karate instructor and also taught Tae Kwon Do. He loved to fish and enjoyed genealogy. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a 32 degree Mason, having been a member of Allen-Graham Lodge #626 AF&AM in Kannapolis and later served as Master of Rock Hill Lodge #111 in Rock Hill, SC. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite of Charlotte, the Hejaz Shrine Club and Oasis Temple in Charlotte. He was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church in in Rock Hill, SC.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Kenny Vinson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with Masonic Graveside rites conducted by Allen-Graham Lodge #626.

Family members left to cherish his memory include his son, Randy Steele, Jr. and wife Melissa Ingram Steele of York, S.C. and two grandchildren; Jacob Payne Steele and Caitlyn Avery Steele.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be set to Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2060 Marett Blvd. Rock Hill, S.C. 29732.
