Dorothy Mae (Price) Gettys

Dorothy Price Gettys, 97 of Durham, formally of Kannapolis, passed away, Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Carolina Reserve of Durham.
She was born January 19, 1925 in Mosby, Missouri to the Late William David Price and Esther Marqurite Stark Price.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing and quilting, playing card games (Bridge and Canasta) , collecting baseball card and watching the St Louis Cardinal's. She also spent many hours in her garden. At the age of 33 she was saved and began teaching Sunday school. She loved teaching the younger children of the church. After her retirement she became the family photographer taking pictures of the family and many other subjects. She was a loving wife mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Gettys in 2010, and his siblings and also her siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory; Rebecca Hill and husband Wayne, Margaret Gettys, Steve Gettys and wife Serafima, two grandsons Jason and Brad Hill, one great granddaughter Alanna Hill, and nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery with Mike Hazeltine officiating.
Visitation will be prior to the service at Whitley's Funeral Home from 11:00 - 12:00 PM, Thursday.
Memorials may be made to your local Hospice.
