Doretha Cassidy

Doretha Melton Cassidy, 98, of China Grove, passed away Thursday September 10, 2020 at home. Born February 3, 1922 in Chesterfield County, SC, she was the daughter of the late John and Cora Cully Melton.

A graveside service to honor Doretha’s life will be held at 2PM Sunday September 13, 2020 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Pastor Connor Lambert officiating.

She spent her working years at Cannon Mills in Spinning Room # 4. In her spare time, she loved working outside, especially gardening, and inside she always kept a spotless house.

Doretha is survived by her children, Charles Cassidy and wife Beth of Mooresville and Vena little of China Grove; 6 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Holloway of Kannapolis; and a brother, John Melton and wife Patsy of China Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Novant Hospice and Palliative Care, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
