Dewey Honbarrier Obituary

Dewey James Honbarrier, 88, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 13, 2021 at Alston Brook in Lexington, NC.


Dewey was born September 2, 1933 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Henry L. and Ethel Miller Honbarrier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Anita Tallman Honbarrier, a grandson Joseph Aaron Broome, and a great grandson Aaron Grant Scott. Also three brothers Harold L., Henry "Junior", Jerry L. and Johnny F. Honbarrier.


He was a member of Crown Point Baptist Church and an Honorary Member of Charity Baptist Church. He was employed by Stacks Furniture and K-Town Furniture until his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in Korea and a member of Cannon Masonic Lodge # 626 AF&AM.


Dewey loved the Lord, loved life and his family. He enjoyed cutting trees and giving to those in need. He loved eating at Bojangles with his wife and will be remembered for giving quarters to all the children. He was an avid fisherman and loved going to yard sales with his late wife. He enjoyed singing "Old Big Cow" to all his grandchildren. Dewey always enjoyed Christmas and was known for wearing his Santa attire.


Family members left to cherish his memory is one sister, Earlene Wallace. Three daughters; Bonnie Broome and husband Darrell, Robin "Ninki" Eddleman and husband Tim, Tammy Barnhardt and husband Danny. One son, David Winecoff and wife Tammy. Brother in law, Larry Tallman and his nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Charity Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Beaver Hammond and Rev. Gene Beaver. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the service. At other times they will be at their respective residences. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the US Navy.
