His memory will live on through his family; his wife, Bengta Stockmar Clark; his children, Jennifer Clark, Nancy (Clement) Ramdin, and Robert Clark; his grandchildren, Alexandra (Patrick), Sonnet, Jacquelyn, and Alexis (Ben); and his great-granddaughter, Emma. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated with a degree in Psychology from Colgate University ‘54 and was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta and The Colgate Thirteen, an acapella group. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and was stationed in Nürnberg, Germany.

Deryck worked as an executive in several major insurance companies in Charlotte, NC and Jacksonville, FL and later worked as a Safety Director at Lanscot Arlen Fabrics and Shogren Hosiery in Concord, NC, happily working well into his eighties. Deryck was also instrumental in starting a youth hockey club in Charlotte and officiated many Charlotte Checkers’ games across NC.

He was a lifetime athlete, excelling at the sports of ice hockey, baseball and golf, an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, lover of music, and a stranger to no one -- always armed with a joke, smile on his face and a song on his lips.
