David Eugene "Gene" Sprinkle

Rev. David Eugene “Gene” Sprinkle, 91 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2023.  Gene was born on June 12, 1931, in Cabarrus County to the late William Sherman and Effie Mae Chase Sprinkle.

Gene devoted his life to the Ministry and ministering to the people.  He was raised in the West A Church of God in Kannapolis.  He then graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, TN with a bachelor’s degree.  In his 65 years of ministry, he spent 63 years pastoring and 3 years evangelizing.  The longest church he pastored was Landis Church of God in Landis, NC.  The church he last pastored before retirement was Icard Church of God in Icard, NC.  After retiring, he resided at his home in Kannapolis and he was a faithful servant to China Grove Church of God in China Grove, NC.

Gene was predeceased by his two sons, Timothy Mark Sprinkle and David Arnold Sprinkle, and his brother, Bill “Junior” Sprinkle.  Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 73 years, Gracie “Grace” Morton Sprinkle; his son, Steve Sprinkle and his wife Ann; his brother, Max Sprinkle; his grandchildren, Shannon Johnson and her husband Jason, Angela Gower and her husband Dan, Amber Hornal, Steven Sprinkle and his wife Jana, Josh Sprinkle, Justin Sprinkle, Robin McGaha and her husband Timothy, Stephanie Sprinkle, Dustin Sprinkle, and Cody Sprinkle; his twelve great grandchildren; and his three great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 6-8pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, 1pm, at China Grove Church of God, 413 N Franklin St, China Grove. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
