Catherine (Overcash) Helms

Catherine Overcash Helms, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, January 3, 2021.

Catherine was born on February 22, 1924 in Cabarrus County to the late Oss and Ruth Overcash.

She will always be remembered for her strong Christian faith and her love for her family. Her world revolved around her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Junior Murray and Clifford Rankin Helms Sr.; son, Charles Dewey Murray; daughter, Carolyn Ruth Helms, and siblings, Helen Russell, Fayne Laney and Leon Overcash.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Clifford R. Helms Jr; daughter, Diane Scott (Greg); grandchildren, Brandi H. Stallans (Nick), Chaley Hopson (Steven), Bryan Scott (Francie), Brent Murray, and Candice (Scott) Hill; numerous great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Jo Puckett, and others.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 6, 2020 at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Joshua Sanders officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
