Brian Scott Yon

Brian Scott Yon, 40, of China Grove passed away Wednesday October 19, 2022 at Atrium Health Carolina’s Medical Center. Born November 23, 1981 he was the son of Jackie Yon and Ruth Trexler Shaver.

Brian spent his career as a firefighter at various departments, most recently serving the communities of Mooresville and Lake Norman Fire Departments. He loved Atlanta Braves baseball, Duke basketball, and especially family time. He tremendously enjoyed coaching his kid’s sports.

Brian’s memory will be cherished by those he left behind including his wife, Carrie Eagle Yon; his children, Bailey and Trexler Yon; his father Jackie Yon and wife Barbara of China Grove; his mother, Ruth Trexler Shaver and husband David of China Grove; two brothers, Tyler Rea and wife Ericka, Frank Yon and wife Megan; a sister, Amber Smith; two step-brothers, Chris Smith and Aaron Shaver; and nieces and nephews, Chasity, Peyton, Riley, Laken, Thomas, and Reagan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harvey and Stella Trexler and Thomas F. and Evelyn Yon.

Funeral services to honor Brian’s life will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, 3pm at Bethpage United Methodist Church, with Revs. Gary McDonald and Jeff Cole will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd. Kannapolis, NC 28083.
