Bobby Franklin Shue, 85 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 19, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bobby was born on March 9, 1938, in Cabarrus County to the late Matthew and Mary Thornburg Shue.
Bobby proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard for 20 years. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he went to work at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home as a maintenance worker for 28 years. Bobby could fix anything, but he loved working on old cars, especially Buicks and Volkswagens, and traveling the country with his wife in their motorhome. Anytime Bobby met someone new, even in public he would give them a cross and say, “Jesus Loves You”.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, his brother, James Shue, his sister, Nellie Coble and his son-in-law, Brandon Barrier. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 16 years, Martha “Naomi” Bennett Shue; his daughters, Jaymie Barrier-Baker and her husband Timothy and Jackie Huneycutt and her husband Glenn; his grandchildren, Joshua Barrier and his wife Jamie, Paige McNamara and her husband Michael, Matthew Barrier and his wife Auburn, Jeremy Huneycutt and his wife Carresa, and Meghan Dietz and her husband Chris; his great grandchildren, Grayson Barrier, Kagan Barrier, Alexis McCann, Zepplyn Huneycutt, and Chase Dietz; his brother, Jack Shue and his wife Linda and his sister, Ruth Mullis and her husband James and his fur babies, Cody and Zoie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1-2pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home with a 2pm funeral service to follow in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Greg Sloop. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
