Billy Joe Martin

Billy Joe Martin, 67 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus following a serious illness of three weeks.

He was born March 16, 1954 in Cleveland County, NC a son of the late Farris Pinky Martin and Catherine Stines Martin.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Bob, and two sisters, Mildred Whitman and Mary Lou Sisk.

Billy was a member of Charity Baptist Church where he served as a greeter, was a member of the Men’s Ministry and Charity Care. He was an avid fisherman and camper, enjoyed working in his garden, fixing cars and spoiling his grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Charity Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Marty Payton. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Joyce Phillips Martin of the home, four children, Crystal Martin of Salisbury, Shasta Polk of Chesterfield, Va. and her husband Tommy, Joe Martin II, of Salisbury and his wife Monica, Jason Martin, and his wife Amy of Landis. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and four brothers; Sonny, Butch, Farris Jr., and Donnie along with four sisters, Frances Pruitt, Madeline Breyers, Debbie Wilson and Shirley Setzer.
