Albon Stafford Berkeyheiser Jr, 88, of China Grove passed away peacefully at his home on November 8, 2019. Mr. Berkeyheiser was born to the late Albon Berkeyheiser Sr. and Dorothy Berkeyheiser in Mercer County N.J. on January 12, 1931.
He graduated from Trenton High School in 1949 and then served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1953. After serving his time with the Air Force, he finished his degree from Rutgers University in 1955. Upon finishing college, he went to work for DeLaval as a mechanical engineer for 41 years. He was also an active member of the Elks lodge and for 32 years, he entertained others as a drummer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marlene Lillian Duke Berkeyheiser
He leaves behind many family and friends to mourn his passing. His family includes three daughters, Patricia (Alfred) Scaccetti, Paula (Lawrence) Murphy, Nancy (Kelli) Holmes; a son, Thomas (Penny) Berkeyheiser; a sister, Hope Varga, and an “adopted daughter” Robin Shue; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Houck, Edward (Andrea) Cooper, John (Mackenzie) Scaccetti, Daniel Murphy, Rebecca (Daniel) Cline, Thomas (Susan) Berkeyheiser, Shauna (Doug) Wright, Cameron Storey and Alexis Holmes; great-grandchildren, Andrew Scaccetti, Christian Scaccetti, Tyler Houck, Matthew Cooper, Audrey Cooper, Cole Scaccetti, and his beloved dog Chloe.
A visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will commence at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 15 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with a burial to take place at a later time in Salisbury National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
