William “Buzz” Hodge, 75, peacefully left this Earth on October 12, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a courageous 10-month battle with Cancer. He was born December 1, 1947, to the late William Joseph Hodge and the late Louise Bulter Hodge and proudly resided in the Enochville community for most of his life.
Buzz loved his family, music, guitars, fishing, hunting, cooking shows and reading, and would spend all day talking about it. He spent his life playing music with various local groups/bands and always had a guitar pick in his pocket, ready to “pick a tune” with anyone at any time. Buzz loved to share his musical talent with everyone and was considered a mentor to many who wanted to learn the guitar.
In addition to his parents, Buzz was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Bittle Hodge and his brother, James Hodge.
Those left to cherish in his memories are his wife, Shirley Freeman Hodge; his son, Rodney Hodge (Kelly); grandchildren, Michelle Hodge (Nick Henry) and Blake Hodge (Madalyn); stepson, Brad Ward (Susan); step-grandson, Coy Ward (Carla); his faithful 4-legged companion Jake; and many other family and friends.
The family would like for you to join them to celebrate his life for a time of gathering on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Annex Chapel at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County in Buzz’s honor.
