William Edward “Bill” Menius, 89, of Concord, passed away Friday evening, June 14, 2024, at his home, following a period of declining health.
Born July 24, 1934, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Thomas Lucky Menius and Thelma Iola Crisco Menius. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Pethel Menius, his daughter, Deborah Menius McCrary; a son, William Edward Menius, Jr; his sister, Helen Menius Williams; and a brother, Johnny Menius.
Mr. Menius had honorably served his country as a staff sergeant with the US Air Force, retiring after 20 years of loyal service. He later also retired from Cannon Mills. Bill was a man of many talents, including being a master wood worker. He hand-built his beautiful home, in which he resided. He enjoyed antique cars and loved gospel blue grass music. A loving and supportive father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle, he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Family members left with many cherished memories include his son, Michael Dean Menius (Janet); brothers, Marvin, Eugene and Donnie Menius; 7 much loved grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 19th from 10:00-11:00 am at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Mark Murphy. Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 26th, at the Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, with military graveside rites.
